Bremen town hall and the Roland statue - UNESCO World Heritage

The town hall and the Roland statue on market square are on the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The importance of the town hall is demonstrated by the distinctive style of its architecture, known as Weser Renaissance, which was prominent in north Germany in the late Renaissance period. Bremen's Roland is one of the oldest and most impressive of the Roland statues which were erected in Germany during the Middle Ages as symbols of liberty and trading rights. Together, they bear testimony to the history of the Free City Republic of Bremen, from the 9th century through to the present day.
