Bleikeller- und Domführung

Description

A tour of Bremen Cathedral and its lead cellar is a memorable experience. Discover how people dealt with death differently through the centuries as the tour guides lead you past the many graves from various eras. Countless bishops and other members of the community are buried in St Peter’s Cathedral. During the tour, you’ll learn how the unusual climate of the Weser dune on which the cathedral was built caused some of the bodies to dry out, and why the ‘mummies’ were continually moved around for three centuries until they found their final resting place in the old cloister, which today is the Bibelgarten.

We will be happy to arrange a group visit at a time to suit you, including during winter when the lead cellar is closed to the public.
